Six supercar driving experiences worth booking once

Skip the ten minutes in a Lambo on an airfield. A good supercar driving experience puts you in a proper car, on a proper track, with someone beside you who can make you faster. Six we would book, what each costs per person, and how long you actually drive.

The short answer

Which supercar driving experience is the best

Prices checked 18 October 2026

The six supercar driving experience days we would book: a three-car Triple Platinum day through ExperienceDays (£284), 90 minutes in a Porsche 911 with your own coach at Silverstone (£325), Silverstone's own McLaren, Ferrari and Aston Martin day (from £396), a full day of race cars at PalmerSport (£950 plus VAT), two days of ice driving in Swedish Lapland (from €4,950) and Aston Martin's own two-day Supercharged course (£7,995).

The best one for most people is the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone. It is the only one under £1,000 that gives you a full 90 minutes at the wheel, with a coach in the passenger seat for all of it.

Every price is per person, from the operator's or seller's own page, read on 18 October 2026. Most need a full driving licence, and several want you to have held it for three years or more. We say which, and what is extra.

Planning the trip around it? Start with more attainable luxury, from suites to first class and the best luxury hotel suites to stay in nearby.

"it's a magical feeling that no other car possesses"

Rush Magazine, April 2024

The best value here, and our pick for most people. Ninety minutes in a current 911 with a Porsche Driving Consultant beside you, on handling tracks that include a kick plate, a low-friction area and an ice hill. You learn more in an hour and a half than in a day of three-lap sessions.

Skip it if you want to say you drove Silverstone itself. The 90-minute course runs on Porsche's own tracks beside the circuit; only the longer Sport Driving School courses add a session on the Silverstone circuit.

How to book it

Book on Porsche's Silverstone booking site; courses run Monday to Friday. Bring your photocard licence: photos, copies and expired licences are turned away. You must be 18 to 80; Turbo models need you to be 21, GT models 25.

£325 including VAT on Porsche's booking page; Rush Magazine paid the same in April 2024. Other models are priced on request.

The one that answers "where can I drive a Ferrari in the UK". Three serious cars, one of them a race-bred McLaren 620R, on the circuit Formula 1 uses for its International layout. About 2.5 hours at Silverstone in all, with an instructor's demonstration lap first.

Skip it if you are under 21, or have held a manual licence for less than three years. Silverstone requires both, and you show the licence on the day.

How to book it

Book direct with Silverstone, or buy it as a gift voucher there. Silverstone also runs evening sessions on the full 5.8km Grand Prix circuit in one car, from £579 in 2026, and a two-session Aston Martin Vantage drive from £249.

Tripadvisor reviewer, March 2023

The one you will talk about for years. Sliding a GT3 sideways on a frozen lake teaches car control at speeds that would be frightening on tarmac, and the coaching is included. A real trip rather than an afternoon.

Skip it if you need every detail fixed before you pay. The package page gives prices and days but not the nights, the cars or the flights, so get a written quote.

How to book it

Ask for a quote on Lapland Ice Driving's site. The 1.5-day Découverte package is from €4,950 per driver including tax; the 2.5-day Elle et Lui package is from €5,750. Coaching, track access, the clubhouse and insurance with an excess are listed as included. Prices vary by season.

Questions

Supercar driving experience: what people ask

Which supercar driving experience is the best?

For most people, the 90-minute 911 course at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone (£325). You get one car, one coach and an hour and a half at the wheel, which teaches you far more than three laps each in three cars. For a once-in-a-lifetime trip, ice driving in Lapland (from €4,950) is the one people talk about for years.

Where can I experience driving a Ferrari in the UK?

Silverstone's Ultimate Supercar Experience includes three laps in a Ferrari 488 GTB, alongside a McLaren 620R and an Aston Martin Vantage, from £396. ExperienceDays' Triple Platinum day lists a Ferrari 458 among its cars (£284), though the exact cars vary. Ferrari's own Corso Pilota courses are in Italy and Finland, from €12,000 plus VAT for the Sport course at Fiorano.

Is the Silverstone supercar experience worth it?

Yes, if you want the name and a Ferrari. The Ultimate Supercar Experience is from £396 for nine laps of the 1.85-mile International circuit in three cars. If you would rather learn, the Porsche Experience Centre next door gives you 90 minutes at the wheel for £325, though on Porsche's own tracks rather than the circuit.

Can I experience driving a supercar without a driving licence?

Not at these six. Porsche, Silverstone, ExperienceDays and Aston Martin all ask for a full licence, and Silverstone wants a manual licence held for three years. Bring the photocard: Porsche turns away photos and copies. PalmerSport and Lapland Ice Driving do not publish their rule on the pages we read, so ask before you book.

How much does a supercar driving experience cost?

For the six here, per person: £284 for three supercars through ExperienceDays, £325 for 90 minutes in a Porsche 911, from £396 for Silverstone's three-car day, £950 plus VAT for a day at PalmerSport, from €4,950 for ice driving in Lapland and £7,995 for Aston Martin's two-day course. Cheaper vouchers exist: Red Letter Days sells an Aston Martin drive for £149.99, but that is about ten minutes behind the wheel.

How we chose: supercar driving experience days that are run by a manufacturer, a circuit or a serious motorsport school, or, for the one catalogue pick, that can be taken at a real circuit, each priced per person from the operator's or seller's own page and judged on time at the wheel rather than the number of cars. No one paid to be included. Every price and specification links to where we checked it on 18 October 2026. How we choose.
