British Airways business classBA Club Suite: is it worth it?
Yes, when your plane has it. British Airways business class is now a private suite with a door, but not every BA long-haul flight has one yet. Here is how to tell before you pay.

The short answer
A Club Suite is worth paying for. Old Club World, on the planes that still have it, is not the same product at the same price.
- Every seat has its own aisle, so nobody climbs over you to reach theirs.
- A sliding door, a fully flat 79-inch bed and an 18.5-inch screen.
- On A350-1000s, 787-10s and 777-300ERs you will get it, every time.
- The 787-9s and A380s mostly still have the old seats, and the Gatwick 777s have no plan to change.
- Service is efficient rather than lavish, and Wi-Fi costs extra.

British Airways business class, plane by plane
BA shows the aircraft type on every flight. Pick the plane on your booking and you'll see what's on board. The cabin plan shows one business class row.

Club Suite, every time.
BA's newest long-haul plane was built with Club Suites, so there are no old seats to dodge.

CheckOpen the seat map when you book. If business class has 4 seats in a row, it is a Club Suite. If it has 7 or 8, it is old Club World. Planes can be swapped late, so look again a few days before you fly.
The two seats
Club Suite or old Club World
Both are sold as British Airways business class, at the same price. These are the differences you will notice.
| Club Suite | Old Club World | |
|---|---|---|
| Seats in a row | 4, in a 1-2-1 layout | 7 or 8, in a 2-4-2 or 2-3-2 layout |
| Getting out | Every seat opens onto an aisle | Window seats step over the aisle seat's legs |
| Which way you face | Forwards, angled to the window or the centre | Half the seats face backwards |
| Privacy | A sliding door | A divider between neighbours |
| The bed | Fully flat, 79 inches | Fully flat |

Honest about it
What's good, and what isn't
Worth it for
- Privacy. The door and the angled seat mean nobody sees you sleeping.
- Sleep. A full-length flat bed and good bedding from The White Company.
- Wine. Seven options plus Champagne is a long list for business class.
- The Club Kitchen: snacks and drinks to help yourself to all flight.
- Fast Wi-Fi if you pay, and messaging free for British Airways Club members.
Know before you pay
- The door doesn't fully close: it leaves a gap of about 1 cm.
- Storage is tight next to newer business class seats.
- No USB-C and no wireless charging.
- Service is quick and polite rather than attentive.
- Wi-Fi is paid and covers one device, and some fares charge to choose a seat.
Coming on the A380
The next Club Suite
BA unveiled its refitted A380 on 6 October 2026: 106 Club Suites on the upper deck in four small cabins, with new fabrics and more storage. The first jet is due in the coming months, and the work runs into 2028. Until then, A380 flights have the old Club World.

Paying for it
Avios or cash
Avios give the best value in business class, because the extra charges are fixed while cash fares climb. These are BA's one-way prices from London in Club.

|---|---|---|---|
| Dubai | 88,000 | 99,000 | £249.50 |
| New York | 88,000 | 99,000 | £249.50 |
| Cape Town | 99,000 | 110,000 | £299.50 |
| Malé, Maldives | 99,000 | 110,000 | £299.50 |

The lounge
Club passengers use the Galleries Club lounges at Heathrow Terminal 5.

New T5 lounge due by the end of 2028Questions
BA Club Suite, answered
Is British Airways business class worth it?
On a plane with the Club Suite, yes: every seat has its own aisle, a door and a fully flat 79-inch bed. On the planes that still have old Club World (most 787-9s and A380s, and the Gatwick 777s), you pay the same for a seat where half the cabin faces backwards and window passengers climb over a neighbour. Check the seat map for 4 seats a row before you pay.
Which BA planes have Club Suite?
All A350-1000s, 787-10s and 777-300ERs, and the 777-200ERs based at Heathrow. Most 787-8s have it, with the rest due during 2026. The 787-9 refit is under way (2 of 18 were done in April 2026). The A380 refit starts with one jet due in the coming months and runs into 2028. The Gatwick 777s have no plan to change.
Does Club Suite have a door?
Yes. A sliding door 44 inches high closes the suite off from the aisle. It leaves a gap of about 1 cm, so it isn't fully sealed.
Is BA Club Suite fully flat?
Yes. It becomes a fully flat 79-inch (200 cm) bed, and every seat has direct aisle access.
How many Avios is Club Suite?
One way from London, off-peak: 88,000 Avios plus £249.50 to Dubai or New York, and 99,000 Avios plus £299.50 to Cape Town or the Maldives. Peak dates cost 11,000 Avios more.
Is Wi-Fi free in Club Suite?
Messaging is free for British Airways Club members. Streaming costs extra (£19.99 on one 2025 flight) and covers one device.
What is changing on the A380?
BA unveiled the refitted A380 on 6 October 2026. It will have 106 Club Suites on the upper deck in four small cabins, with new fabrics and more storage. The seat itself is almost the same.
