A catered ski chalet village at night: lit chalets and a church in a snowy Swiss valley

Six catered ski chalets, priced per person

A catered ski chalet looks frightening as one weekly price and much less so split across a group. Six we would book for 2026/27, what a January week costs, what Christmas and half term add, and what each of you pays.

The short answer

Which catered ski chalet to book

Prices checked 18 October 2026

The six catered ski chalets we would book for a group in 2026/27: Bellacima Lodge in Méribel (£18,000 for a January week, sleeps 12), Chalet Rikiki in Courchevel 1650 (£1,510 each with flights, sleeps 22), Chalet Zermatt Lodge (£26,168, sleeps 10), Chalet Griffin in St Anton (£36,283, sleeps 12), Chalet Machapuchare in Val d'Isère (about €64,288, sleeps 14) and Chalet Bibi in Verbier (£61,561, sleeps 9).

Split across a full chalet, a January week runs from about £1,500 each at Bellacima Lodge to about £6,840 each at Chalet Bibi. The calculator below works it out for your group, and tells you when a chalet is too small.

Peak weeks cost far more. New Year at Machapuchare is about 2.6 times its January price, and most of these chalets have already sold Christmas and February half term. If your dates can move, January and March are where the value is.

Every price here is the seller's own published price, read on 18 October 2026. Only Chalet Rikiki includes flights and transfers; for the rest, budget for travel, lift passes and ski hire on top.

Planning the trip around it? Start with luxury villa rentals for a group and luxury train journeys, including the Alps.

Questions

Catered ski chalet questions

How much does a catered ski chalet cost per person?

For the six here, a January 2027 week split across a full chalet runs from about £1,500 each at Bellacima Lodge in Méribel (12 people) to about £6,840 each at Chalet Bibi in Verbier (9 people). Chalet Rikiki in Courchevel 1650 is £1,510 each with flights included. Lift passes and ski hire are extra everywhere.

Is a catered ski chalet holiday ATOL protected?

Only if you buy it as a package with a flight from an ATOL holder. The Civil Aviation Authority says accommodation-only bookings are not ATOL protected, because they do not include a flight. Of the six here, only Chalet Rikiki is sold with flights; for the others, check whether the seller is an ABTA member and pay by credit card.

What does catered mean in a ski chalet?

Usually breakfast every day, afternoon tea, and dinner with wine on most nights, cooked and served by a chef or chalet host. The staff have a day or evening off each week, so you eat out at least once: Inghams serves dinner six nights, Ski Basics five, and Bellacima Lodge has two evenings free. Lunch is almost never included.

What is a chalet day off?

The night the chalet staff are not working, so there is no dinner and often only a continental breakfast. Iglu Ski's listing for Chalet Arolla in Méribel, for example, gives Wednesday as the day off, except at Christmas. Book a restaurant for that night early, especially in Courchevel and Verbier.

Should you tip the chalet host?

Tips are not in any of the prices on this page, and none of the six listings sets an amount. Many groups leave a tip for the chef, host and driver at the end of the week; ask the seller what is usual for that chalet, and give it in cash to the team directly.

When is the cheapest week for a catered ski chalet?

Early December, January (after New Year) and the weeks after Easter. Christmas, New Year and February half term cost far more: Machapuchare's New Year week is about €164,290 against about €64,288 in early January, and most of these chalets have already sold their peak weeks.
